This exhibition contains selections from various photography portfolios.

Southeast Asia

This is a small selection of a larger portfolio of images from Southeast Asia that will debut at Jamaica Plain Open Studios. More images will be added to this gallery after the Open Studios weekend.

Studio voyeur

Seems and gaps. The unseen. The voids. The peripheral visual stuff that fills an artists work space. These are subtle influences to an artist. The objects and ideas that surround an artist greatly shape artistic output. These images offer a glimpse into the studio practices at Cranbrook Academy of Art and explore the idiosyncratic nature of creative spaces. Seventy-one artists, designers, and architects in the 2008 graduating class at the Academy have filled their spaces with curiosities and comforts for the past two years. I had the privilege of being asked by Andrew DeRosa, an amazing graphic designer, to photograph these spaces for the catalog that accompanies the Graduate Degree Exhibition at the Cranbrook Art Museum. This installation offers a glimpse into some of the workspaces and, as one of the graduates myself, it is my farewell poem to my colleagues at Cranbrook. Cranbrook has built a house for artists in the great ideals of its founders and patrons. Today Cranbrook Academy of Art is the house that art built.

"If I were asked to name the chief benefit of the house, I should say: the house shelters day-dreaming, the house protects the dreamer, the house allows one to dream in peace."
Gaston Bachelard, Poetics of Space

note: the images on this website are a small selection of a much larger portfolio of images from this project. A selection of prints from this project will be on long-term exhibition at Cranbrook Academy of Art.
